Care & Choice - Growing Older in Warwickshire
Wit h a bit of luck, most of us will get to grow old. In fact, more of us are going to reach a rip e old age than ever before. The local population is agei ng fast.
The number of Warwickshire citizens over 85 will rise by more than a third in the ten years to 2016. Over the same decade the number of people with dementia is expected to rise by more than a quarter. Making provision for so many extra older people is a 'must'.
Warwickshire County Council launched the Care & Choice programme in 2007 to find the best ways forward. Though prompted by forecasts for increasing demand, Care & Choice is not just about numbers. We are looking at ways to reshape and modernise care services to offer older people, and adults with disabilities, more choice and a better deal in the decades ahead.
In essence, our aim is to make Warwickshire a good place to grow old.
