Services to the elderly

North Warwickshire Borough Council understands that as you get older it gets harder to maintain your home due to the physical demands.

We want to help you as much as we can and have made a number of concessions and special arrangements for our older Tenants.

Specialist accommodation for mature tenants

We operate a number of sheltered living schemes across North Warwickshire. The schemes allow you to live independently in your own self-contained ground floor flat or bungalow. They cater only for residents over 60 years and offer community facilities, for example laundries and communal lounges.

Borough Care

A free service available to any resident in the North Warwickshire Borough that is over 62 years of age (you do not have to be a tenant of North Warwickshire Borough Council - the scheme is open to owner occupiers and tenants of other landlords). Your home is connected to an alarm system, pull chords and a pendant worn on your person allows you to call for help in an emergency. Concessionary Decorations

If you are a Tenant of North Warwickshire Borough Council we can help you to decorate two rooms in your house every seven years free of charge. For more information please contact the Repairs Division on 01827 719299.

Adaptions

If you have mobility problems (for example difficulty walking, problems with your balance and problems getting up and about), we may be able to provide adaptations to your home. We can provide ramps, stair-lifts, walk-in showers and grab rails among the list of adaptations. For minor adaptations please contact the Repairs Division on 01827 719299. For more information on major adaptations such as level access showers please contact Social Services Adaptations on 01827 714861.

If you can't get to us we'll come to you

We appreciate that it may be harder for you to get about, especially in bad weather, so if you need our help or advice just give us a call on 01827 715341 or email housingservices@northwarks.gov.uk. If we cannot resolve your enquiry over the phone, we'll come out to see you.

Attending Tenants Meetings

If you wish to attend a meeting of your local tenants group but will have difficulty getting there, just let our Tenant Participation Officer know by calling 01827 719402. We can arrange a free transport service for you.
