About Recycling Collections
The kerbside recycling service
Collection day: Find the date for your Black Bin Collection, Green Bin Collection or Recycling Collection by using our online Rubbish and Recycling Directory. Collection arrangements for Christmas/New Year holiday periods will be notified separately.
What can I recycle?
Find out what you can recycle and what container to use by visiting our what can I recycle page. You can also download our recycling leaflet to use as a quick guide.
Please note the roll of orange bags are to be used for plastic recycling only. If these orange bags are found in the black bin for refuse the bin will not be emptied.
Where should I put my recycling to be collected?
Please put your recycling containers at the edge of the property nearest the road, unless you have an assisted collection arrangement.
How often are the collections?
Collections of recycling take place fortnightly. Your red box and blue, yellow, orange and pink bags will be collected on the same day. Collections will take place as normal on Bank Holiday's (excluding Christmas and New year).
What time will my recycling be collected?
Recycling collections start from 7am, please present your recycling box and bags by this time. Please note that collections of plastics and cardboard are carried out by a separate vehicle so these materials could be collected later or earlier than the rest of your recycling.
Why do we have to have so many containers?
By collecting materials separately we can ensure that we only collect what can be recycled and that the materials we collect are of a high quality and not contaminated e.g. by spilled food or liquids. In this way we can ensure that what you put out to be recycled gets recycled and does not need to be sent to landfill. Providing a high quality end product also means that the materials are of greater value allowing us to provide the service as a lower cost to tax payers.
What if I have more recycling than will fit into the containers?
Please separate any extra recycling into plastic carrier bags and it will be collected (do not use black bin bags - the recycling needs to be visible or it will not be collected). If you need extra or replacement containers please contact us.
Can I use my own boxes and reusable bags?
No, the containers provided to you for recycling collections have been approved to fit the specification and health and safety requirements of the service please do not buy your own to use instead. An exception to this is using plastic carrier bags whilst you are waiting for a replacement container to be delivered or have more recycling than usual.
Assisted collections
Households where there is no one within the family able to put the recycling containers out and where no other arrangements for collection can be made, can request assisted collection whereby the bin will be collected and returned to its storage point - call our Contact Centre for more information - 01827 715341
Where can I recycle items not collected at kerbside? You can take them to your nearest Household Waste Recycling Centre. For opening hours and a list of accepted items visit Warwickshire County Council's Household Recycling page.
