Black Bin Collection
Black Bin Information
Collection day: Find the date for your Black Bin Collection, Green Bin Collection or Recycling Collection by using our online Rubbish and Recycling Directory. Collection arrangements for Christmas/New Year holiday periods will be notified separately.
What can and can't I put in the black bin? Your black refuse bin is for all non-bulky household waste that cannot be recycled via the kerbside recycling service or garden waste service.
Electrical items (for example Microwaves, TV's and Computers) should not be placed in your black bin and can be taken to your nearest Household Waste Recycling Centre. If bulky household waste or electrical items are placed in the black bin it will not be emptied.
Where should I put my bin to be collected? Please put your black bin at the edge of the property nearest the road unless you have an assisted collection.
What time will my bin be collected? Collections will start from 6.45am each day. Usual collection times may vary due to events such as breakdown, traffic diversions and weather conditions and may occur later or earlier than expected. Refuse collections will be made weekly on the same day each week (excepting Bank Holidays and Christmas/New Year period).
Where will my bin be when it is has been emptied? The collection crews should return bins to the point at which they were presented.
Can I put extra waste at the side of my bin for collection? No. The Council has a no side waste policy which means that any extra waste placed next to the black bin will not be collected.

A larger bin/additional bin may be provided to households of six or more persons if it is demonstrated that the standard bin is insufficient. Alternatively a smaller bin (140 litre) may be provided if the standard bin has become too large for the household's waste disposal needs.
