How to keep your home safe and secure was amongst the crime prevention advice given to residents at two recent Community Safety Days in Arley and Hartshill. The roadshows were a joint effort involving the Borough and County Councils, Fire and Rescue, the Safer Neighbourhood Team and North Warwickshire Neighbourhood Watch Association. A variety of personal and home security devices, including personal attack alarms, shed alarms and alarmed padlocks were on offer. Over 100 free security packs were distributed and a number of home safety checks completed.
Cheryl Bridges, Community Development Officer (Safer Communities), said: " We asked residents to rate how safe they feel in their communities on a scale of 1-5, where 1 represents 'not safe' and 5 is 'very safe.' The average score was 4, which proves that North Warwickshire is a safe place to visit, live and work in."
Ron's role in 'retirement'
Sergeant Ron Drake of Coleshill Police Station may have retired from Warwickshire Police after 35 years but he is not about to put his feet up just yet!
Ron has been appointed to the externally funded post of Anti-Social Behaviour Co-ordinator. The post is hosted by the Police and funded through the Community Safety Partnership. Ron's role will be to log incidents of anti-social behaviour to support organisations' work with young people.
New Inspector for North Warwickshire

Inspector Mike Smith has travelled north to Coleshill Police Station as the new Safer Neighbourhood Inspector, covering the four Neighbourhood Policing teams. It's Mike's first time in North Warwickshire, having previously worked in Rugby, Warwick and Leamington Spa. He said:
" This is my first role as an Inspector. I'm looking forward to getting to know the area and dealing with the issues that matter most to the people who live and work here. It's a time of change in Policing, with reduced funding and significant changes being made to the way the service is structured. It's my job to ensure that we provide the best service possible to the communities of North Warwickshire, within the resources we have available."
