Grants for community groups

Apply Now!

Polesworth Abbey Festival Weekend, pitch maintenance equipment for Hartshill Football Club and camping equipment for Fillongley Scouts and Guides are just some of the projects which received grants in 2006 from the Area Forum Fund.

Set up by the Borough Council in 2003, the fund aims to support community projects in each Area Forum area. Since then, 55 local projects have been supported to the tune of £133,707 - ranging from redecorating Parish Halls to installing new play equipment and benches in parks and public areas.

A total of £35,000 has been made available in this financial year based on £1,000 for each ward Councillor. Parish or Town Councils and any community group with its own bank account and constitution can apply providing they meet three criteria.

Firstly, the application must be for a one-off project to benefit the community; it must be countersigned by a Borough Councillor and the Area Forum Fund must be the only source of funding. Groups must also be able to fund at least 30% of the project whilst Parish and Town Councils must fund 50%, which could include volunteer support.

Further information and application forms are available from the Borough Council's Community Development Division on 01827 719492 or email: communitydevelopment@northwarks.gov.uk

The closing date for this round of funding is 1st February 2007 with the next deadline 1st August.
