Introduction to Submitting an Application

North Warwickshire Borough Council is encouraging all applicants to submit their planning application online via the 1APP Planning Portal - the Government's first point of call for anyone who wants to find out about the planning system in England and Wales. By submitting your application via the Planning Portal, you can fill out the tailored application form to fit your proposal, upload plans and documents, and pay the relevant fee - all online. This saves on printing, copying and postage costs!

Make your application here

Please note: to submit via the Planning Portal, you will need to register once with the service. Please do not be deterred by this requirement, as the submission process will be quicker, easier and cheaper!

Fees for Planning Applications

Most applications require the submission of the relevant fee. You can view the scale of charges for Planning Applications here.

These are set nationally and regularly reviewed - the last update was 26th February 2010.

Other ways of submitting an application

If you would prefer to submit your application on paper, then you can obtain the relevant application forms here. You will however need to forward multiple copies of all documentation in order for the application to be valid.

What happens next?

Once your application is submitted, we will assess the suitability of the information provided, and advise you in writing of whether the application is valid, along with the anticipated determination date and case officer, or what further information or corrections are necessary to validate it. All correspondence in respect of the latter should be directed to the Central Services Support Officer. Please see our Local Validation Requirements in order to ensure your application is complete.

How long will it take to make a decision?

Your acknowledgement letter, sent when the application is validated, will advise on the target determination date.

Most applications can take up to 8 weeks, which is our target date for determination. Major applications will often take longer, and up to 13 weeks is allowed for these. Prior determinations and Conservation Area Consent applications for works to trees take less time.

In all cases however, officers will endeavour to make a decision in advance of these deadlines, but it should be remembered that at least 3 weeks must be offered for consultation on your application, and further consultation periods may be necessary if the application is amended.
