Reporting to the Assistant Director (Finance and Human Resources), you will be responsible for a wide range of financial duties, from research and taking the lead on new and emerging topics, to keeping abreast of new developments affecting Local Government and advising the Assistant Director and Deputy Chief Executive of their implications. Other areas will include the preparation and co-ordination of the Council’s capital budgets, the provision of budgetary control information for a range of the Councils services, coordination of the Council’s work on the efficiency agenda, supporting information for the Council’s Value for Money programme, involvement in the Council’s external partnerships and projects, with some supervision of Accountancy Assistants. You will also be providing advice and information to Members and Officers with differing levels of financial knowledge, so the ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing is important.
You will hold a CCAB qualification (preferably CIPFA) and support will be available to the right candidate to maintain their professional development. The benefits package includes a final salary pension scheme, generous holiday entitlement and flexible working.
