Cook n Taste sessions go down well!

Judging by the queues of eager (and hungry) customers, the Cook n Taste sessions at Atherstone Leisure Complex are going down a storm. The project, run by the Borough Council with Action for Wellbeing, aims to give people a taste of healthy foods and show how simple it is to prepare cheap, nutritious meals.

Last Monday's session (17th August) - the third of four - was a rainbow treat for the taste-buds with an opportunity to create a range of healthy pizza slices to take home for tea. Joanne Rooke, Community Development Officer: Health Improvement at the Borough Council said she hoped the sessions would spread the word about healthy eating:

" We are promoting an all round healthy lifestyle and obviously healthy eating is a big part of that. We want to dispel the myth that healthy eating can be expensive and get people to improve on what they eat. As well as getting people to taste different foods, we are also giving advice on different recipe ideas, ways to read food labels, portion sizes and getting your daily dose of vitamins and minerals. "

Action for Wellbeing is a Big Lottery funded project to improve health and wellbeing within local communities. It also supports the Change4life campaign, which aims to help every family in England to eat well, move more and live longer.
