What is the Local Plan for North Warwickshire

Supplementary Planning Documents

Supplementary Planning Documents (SPDs) expand upon, and support, policies contained within the North Warwickshire Local Plan and forthcoming Core Strategy. These perform the same role as Supplementary Planning Guidance (SPG), which remain relevant unless revised or replaced by a SPD. The content of SPDs and SPGs concentrate on detailed issues, and are a material consideration in determining planning applications.

Consultation on Supplementary Planning Documents

The consultation is open from 13th June - 25th July 2019. More information can be found on the planning consultation page

The North Warwickshire Green Space Strategy

The Green Space Strategy 2008-2018 sets out a ten-year framework to enable the Council and its partners to work towards meeting the recommended standards of provision set out in the Open Spaces, Sport and Recreation Study, as outlined above.

Whilst the Study identified deficiencies in the quantity of open space provision in some specific areas of the Borough, the overall evidence is that there is sufficient green space in North Warwickshire, but that investment is necessary to improve its quality and accessibility. The policies set out in the North Warwickshire Green Space Strategy include both Borough-wide service improvements and area-specific priorities.

The Borough Council does not deliver green space alone - other organisations, particularly Town and Parish Councils, also make provision in their communities. The priorities in the Strategy reflect this, and are intended to enable the Council to help other organisations to meet the priorities identified for their sites.
