Community Infrastructure Levy (CIL)
The Community Infrastructure Levy is a planning charge, introduced by the Planning Act 2008 as a tool for local authorities to help deliver infrastructure to support the development of their area. It came into force on 6 April 2010 through the Community Infrastructure Levy Regulations 2010 with Amendments in February 2014. Development may be liable for a charge under the Community Infrastructure Levy (CIL),
The proposed CIL charges, or rates, are informed by evidence within the “Review and Update of the Council’s Affordable Housing Viability Assessment,” and “CIL Study and the Community Infrastructure Levy Non-Residential Review and Update Viability Report. The statutory requirement for this stage requires the Authority to consult on its intentions for CIL with stakeholders.
