Collection vehicles experience the same problems as other vehicles in ice and snow but have the potential to cause greater damage to road users, pedestrians and our own work force. Pulling bins to the collection vehicle also carries risks in icy weather as the heavy weight and slippery surface can cause slips and falls.

In the event of ice and snow managers assess the level of risk involved and a decision is made whether to suspend collections.
