Development Opportunity – Former Public Conveniences, Station Street, Atherstone
The Council is interested to hear from developers, retailers and other commercial operators who have an interest in returning the site of the former Public Conveniences in Station Street, Atherstone to full-time use as a local facility.
The Council is proposing to work in partnership to provide a “kiosk” style facility on the site with the existing building remodelled to provide space for small-scale catering, provision of food and drinks and associated retail goods. Ideally, the Council would like some accessible public toilet provision to continue.
The external structure of the current building is in good order. It is traditional brick construction with a tiled pitched roof. It was built in the mid 1960’s and benefited from refurbishment in the late 1980’s. The GIA is 35m2 and currently comprises of separate male and female conveniences, a disabled toilet, and a store. The land immediately surrounding the building is also available for use in the context of any development.
The Council is initially seeking expressions of interest and development proposals should not be limited to the use set out above. The Council will work with any provider which adds value to the site and increases local amenity.
