Ray Jarvis

Deputy Mayor 2019-20

Ray was born in Atherstone in May 1952; an only child of Kathleen and Maurice.  He has lived in Atherstone since birth and married Carol in 1973 in St Mary’s Church, Atherstone.  Ray and Carol have two daughters, Laura, born in 1976, and Dawn, born in 1979.

He served an engineering apprenticeship at Lunn Engineering, Mancetter, and has spent all his working life in automotive engineering, eventually retiring from Jaguar Land Rover at Christmas 2017.

Politically, Ray has been a North Warwickshire Borough Councillor for four years and has been an Atherstone Town Councillor for fifteen years; three years as Atherstone Town Mayor (during which time he raised £10,000 for his charities).

Ray Chaired Dickens Night from 2005 until 2010 and he started Summer in the Square, which he ran for twelve years.

He is on the fundraising committee for St Mary’s Church, Atherstone, and has run successful musical evening events from Elvis to Jaguar Land Rover Brass Band, raising funds for the Church.

Ray’s interests are gardening, DIY, his family and anything with four wheels and an engine.

As a North Warwickshire Borough Councillor, Ray makes only one promise, which is to do his best for the people he represents.
