We are looking for Benefits Officers to work as part of a team assessing Local Council Tax Support and Housing Benefit claims from both the public and private sector. You will also need to promote and provide additional support to customers where financial difficulties are demonstrated and cannot easily be resolved. You must have experience of working with the general public and have the ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing with individuals of all levels to explain decisions clearly. Ideally you would have an up to date knowledge of Housing Benefit legislation and the NWBC Local Council Tax Support scheme.
This post is exempted under the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 and, as such, appointment will be conditional upon receipt of a satisfactory response to a check of criminal records via the Disclosure and Barring Service, before the appointment is confirmed. This will include details of cautions, reprimands or final warnings, as well as convictions. A Standard Disclosure will be required.
