Colourful fireworks exploding in the night sky with vibrant bursts of pink, purple, green, and gold

Tonight, 5th November 2025, is Bonfire Night!

Whether you’re planning a fireworks display with friends or family, Atherstone and Coleshill Police have shared essential safety tips to help you enjoy the festivities responsibly. Follow their guidance to keep yourself, your loved ones, and your community safe while making the most of the celebrations.

Safety First

  • Only buy fireworks from licensed sellers.

  • Always follow the instructions & keep water nearby for emergencies.

  • Never relight a firework that doesn’t go off; sparklers can reach 2,000°C!

  • Children should never handle fireworks.

Be Considerate of Neighbours

  • Finish your firework display by 11pm (midnight on Bonfire Night) to avoid disturbing others.

  • Let neighbours know if you’re planning fireworks, especially those with pets, young children, or veterans.

  • Avoid setting off fireworks near homes, schools, or care facilities.

Protect Pets

  • Keep pets indoors in a quiet space.

  • Close windows and curtains to reduce noise.

  • Play calming music or white noise to help them relax.

Illegal Use

  • Setting off fireworks in public places (streets, parks) is illegal and can lead to fines.

  • Misusing fireworks is dangerous and will be taken seriously.
