From Monday 23rd February 2026, 80 per cent of households in North Warwickshire will see changes to their waste and recycling collection schedules.

These changes may involve a new collection day, a different bin being collected, or both.

Under the current arrangement, a combination of black, red and green bins are collected each week across the borough. Once the new service is introduced, collections will move to an alternating schedule, with all black bins collected in week one, followed by all red bins in week two. As part of this change, some households may see their green bin collection day change (for those residents that subscribe to the service).

The revised refuse and recycling rounds have been designed to fully optimise the service, enabling it to operate more effectively and efficiently, while also reducing environmental impact, in readiness for the introduction of food waste collections in the Summer.  This is part of complying with government Simpler Recycling legalisation.

Residents will receive letters informing them of any amendments to their collection day and setting out their next three scheduled collections for each bin type.

Residents will also be able to check their collection dates through the following channels:

Residents are encouraged to read their letter as soon as it arrives to confirm their collection dates and familiarise themselves with the changes.

Councillor Margaret Bell, Chair of the Community and Environment Board, said:
“The introduction of the new collection rounds will have a positive impact on how the Council operates and will help us continue to work towards our goal of being as environmentally friendly as possible. We recognise that this is the biggest change ever made to our bin collections, and we are extremely grateful for residents’ cooperation.”
