Time is running out for residents, businesses, and stakeholders across Warwickshire to take part in the Government’s consultation on Local Government Reorganisation (LGR).

The consultation closes at 11:59pm on Thursday 26 March 2026.

The government has launched a consultation to invite residents, businesses, and key stakeholders, to have their say as part of the consultation on what Local Government Reorganisation (LGR) should look like in Warwickshire.

There are two options for reorganisation in Warwickshire:

  1. Two unitary authorities: comprised of North Warwickshire (North Warwickshire, Nuneaton and Bedworth and Rugby) and South Warwickshire (Stratford-on-Avon and Warwick)
  2. Single unitary authority: one single council for the whole of Warwickshire

Under both options all existing borough, county and district councils would be abolished.

You can read more information explaining the two options on the North Warwickshire Borough Council website.

Now it's your chance to tell the Government what you think the best option is for the future of Warwickshire!

Residents are encouraged to share their views before the consultation closes. The quickest and easiest way to take part is by completing the online survey.

Paper copies of the consultation are available from:

  • Main council office reception areas
  • Libraries operated by Warwickshire County Council

Joint Statement from all North Warwickshire Borough Council Group Leaders:

“As Leaders of all political groups across North Warwickshire Borough Council, we speak with one voice on this important issue. The decisions now being consulted on will shape how local services are delivered and how democracy works in Warwickshire for many years to come. Back in November 2025, we submitted our preferred option which is two councils for the north and south rather than a single unitary for the whole of Warwickshire for Local Government Reorganisation to central Government. The consultation now nearing its close is an important opportunity for residents, businesses, and stakeholders to share their views directly with Government before it makes its final decision.”

The Government is expected to publish its decision in the summer.
