Empty children’s play area with multiple swings on a grassy field, including a basket swing and toddler seat, under dark cloudy skies with trees in the background.

Following several delays and issues with the contract work at the Ridge Lane Recreational Ground, North Warwickshire Borough Council would like to apologise for the delay in fully opening the site.

While the equipment has been installed, there have been significant issues with the ground surfacing, meaning that some areas of grass have not yet established sufficiently to withstand regular use.

To address this, a new landscaping contractor has been appointed and has started work on 1 June 2026.  The Council has upgraded over 10,000m2 of play areas in recent years with 43 new pieces of play equipment and we are looking forward to fully finishing Ridge Lane’s play area.

The Council is pleased that parts of the site were opened a few weeks ago, allowing children in the Ridge Lane community to enjoy some of the new facilities. We remain committed to opening additional sections as soon as it is safe to do so. Please be assured that all equipment undergoes thorough inspection to ensure it meets safety standards before being made available.

We are aware of comments on social media suggesting that Ridge Lane has been treated less favourably than other locations. We would like to reassure residents that this is not the case and that the play area followed the same procurement and tendering process as all other sites and has been managed consistently throughout.

We have been keeping the residents of Ridge Lane updated through their Facebook Group, however moving forward updates will be posted on the NWBC Facebook page.  We anticipate that the park will be fully opened early July ready for the summer School holidays.

In the meantime, the Council would like to thank residents of Ridge Lane for their continued patience, enthusiasm and support for the new play equipment installed at Ridge Lane Recreation Ground.
