Men across North Warwickshire are being encouraged to take advantage of a free prostate cancer blood testing event taking place this autumn.
The Prostate – Specific Antigen (PSA) screening session will be held on Thursday 24 September 2026, from 2pm to 6pm at Old Saltleians Rugby Club, Coleshill Road, Water Orton, B46 1QE, with testing available by appointment only.
North Warwickshire Borough Council’s Health and Wellbeing Working Group has fully funded the event, to ensure eligible residents can access PSA testing free of charge. The Council is committed to improving awareness of men's health and encouraging early detection of prostate cancer. This is a one-off event, however if there is substantial interest from local men, there are plans to explore opportunities for additional PSA testing events at locations across the borough, helping to make this important service accessible to even more residents.
Testing will be delivered by the Graham Fulford Charitable Trust and supported by North Warwickshire Borough Council; the event offers a quick and simple PSA blood test to help identify the overall health of a prostate and any potential prostate concerns at an early stage. No physical examination is required, results are typically returned within seven days, and the test is free of charge.
The event is open to men aged 40 and over, as well as men aged 35 and over who have a strong family history of prostate cancer and/or are from higher-risk groups.
Prostate cancer often shows no symptoms in its early stages, making early detection particularly important. Common symptoms can include needing to urinate more frequently, difficulty starting urination, a weak urine flow, or feeling that the bladder has not fully emptied.
