Planning Team are winners at Prestigious Award Ceremony

North Warwickshire Borough Council’s Forward Planning team is celebrating this week after collecting the award for ‘Plan-Making’ at the 2019 Planning Awards.
The small team of four were honored to be shortlisted, alongside stiff competition from other councils including Leicester and Essex. They were overjoyed to collect the award at the ceremony held in London on 4 June. The evening brought together professionals across the industry to showcase best practice across the country.
The team were shortlisted for their work on the NWBC Local Plan which is due to be adopted by early 2020.
Cllr Mark Simpson, Chair of Planning Committee, said; “I’m delighted for the team who have worked extremely hard to deliver on this plan. NWBC is a small local authority with a history of low levels of growth. This Local Plan marks a step change and aspires to deliver homes and jobs for not only its own needs but those of adjoining local authorities.”
The Planning Awards are run by Planning magazine (in conjunction with PlanningResource and PlacemakingResource) and recognise excellence in both planning and placemaking. This means that, as well as recognising outstanding professional planning work, they also reward excellence in planning-related activities such as placemaking, urban design, economic development, housing, regeneration, legal advice and environmental consulting.
