NWBC have been successful in a joint bid for funding amounting to a total of £1.41 million via the Governments Green Homes Grant.
The funding will be split, with £750,000 allocated across 68 private sector properties (shared with Nuneaton and Bedworth Borough Council) and £660,000 covering 120 council homes.
Due to start imminently with a completion date of March 2021, the scheme will be targeted at the installation of external wall insulation to improve thermal efficiency and reduce heating bills for residents across the Borough.
To be eligible for the funding the homes must:
- Be occupied by low income households (£30,000 or less)
- Have solid walls
- Have an energy performance certificate of E,F or G.
Cllr Christopher Watkins - Portfolio holder for Housing and Communities, was delighted to hear of the success of the bid, he said:
“This scheme will be a great help to residents across the Borough, making their homes warmer and saving them money on energy bills. It’s great news that will not only benefit homeowners but will also help to support the local economy by keeping people in employment, as well as creating new jobs.”
If you live in privately owned housing and fulfil the eligibility criteria above and would like to register your interest on a first come basis, please call the Nuneaton and Bedworth Council on 02476376376 and ask about the Green Homes Grant.
The Council will be working with its contractors to identify eligible Council households.
Nationally the Government is providing help directly to all qualifying residents through a voucher scheme which can be found at gov.uk/guidance/apply-for-the-green-homes-grant-scheme#eligibility.
