North Warwickshire placed in Tier 3 - Very High Alert

Published on Saturday, 28th November 2020

The tightest restrictions for North Warwickshire as Lockdown ends on 2nd December

Cllr David Wright, Leader of North Warwickshire Borough Council, said: “The Government have announced the Tier System yesterday and North Warwickshire will be placed under Tier 3 – Very High Alert. Under Tier 3, no mixing of households is allowed apart from support bubbles. Pubs and restaurants must stay closed except for takeaways, and indoor entertainment venues must also stay closed. All retail shops and gyms will be able to open however.

We are very disappointed to be in this tier given that our infection rates hare falling and our hospitals are coping well. We have made this case very strongly to Government and will continue to do so. We are all desperate for more of our way of life to return to normal and we are disappointed that we remain subject to so many restrictions still. We will continue to support businesses forced to close and have given our 242 grants worth £376,000 already in this lockdown and there will be further funding for December for businesses having to close in December.

Infection rates need to continue to fall, particularly amongst those aged over 60 where the risk of needing medical care is highest before the Government will move us to a lower tier. I am really grateful for everyone’s efforts in getting infection rates down and its still vital that we continue to keep to the guidance if we are to see some easing of restrictions in weeks to come.  We must all continue to wash our hands, cover our face, keep our distance and get a test if we display symptoms.”
