A new Covid-19 Vaccination Clinic which opened in North Warwickshire last week has vaccinated hundreds of local people in the first few days of opening.

The new site, which is in North Warwickshire Borough Council’s Civic Suite in their offices in Atherstone, opened to walk-in vaccinations on Wednesday 17th November.

Last week in Atherstone (2 days) over 600 Covid vaccines and over 120 flu vaccines were delivered. This week, the clinic is already on track to exceed 1,000 Covid vaccines and 200 flu.

The walk-in clinic is much-welcomed facility for North Warwickshire and prevents those people who are due their booster vaccine from travelling outside of the borough to get vaccinated.

The clinic is currently open on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays from 9am-5pm.

Leader of the Council Cllr David Wright said: “I’m delighted that so many people from North Warwickshire have been attending the facility and accessing their much-needed booster vaccination. The clinic is extremely well organised, and, at most, people only have a short wait of 10-15 mins before being vaccinated. I’m pleased we’ve been able to offer our venue to NHS partners to provide this clinic for our Borough.”

A coronavirus (COVID-19) booster vaccine dose helps improve the protection from the first 2 doses of the vaccine. It helps give longer-term protection against getting seriously ill from COVID-19.

Immunity from the 1st and 2nd doses of Covid-19 vaccines declines over time and it’s crucial to have a booster six months after your 2nd dose to ensure maximum protection. If it’s been six months since your 2nd dose, you are eligible for a booster. If you are eligible for your booster you can book your vaccine at, call NHS 119 or visit a clinic with walk-in appointments.
