Just Stop Oil - High Court Injunction Granted
Published on Thursday, 14th April 2022
North Warwickshire Borough Council, with considerable support from Warwickshire Police and Warwickshire County Council has secured the order against the environmental groups who have caused a serious risk to themselves and others during the first week of protest in Kingsbury.
The Order gives a power of arrest outside the terminal and at the junctions of the roads leading into the zone. A copy of the order will be placed prominently at the entrance to the terminal.
Leader of the Council, Cllr David Wright said; “This a huge positive step forward to preventing the disruption we have seen over the past two weeks in Kingsbury. I believe we are the only area to now be covered by such an injunction and this is huge credit to our Borough Council Officers and colleagues at Warwickshire police and the County Council for their tireless work to get the injunction in place so quickly.
The Council supports the right to lawful protest but some of the actions have created unacceptable dangers. The Police now have much better powers to stop repeat and dangerous protestors.”
