Black bin - non-recyclable rubbish

Your black bin is for waste which cannot be recycled (red lid bin) or composted (green lid bin) in your other bins.

How often are black bins emptied?

Black bins are emptied fortnightly.

Time and place

On your collection day please put your bin out at the edge of your property by 6:30am, if you live in a flat please use your communal bin and we will collect from the communal bin store.

What to put in your black bin:

Items which cannot be recycled in your red-lidded or green bins including:

  • Carrier bags, film and cling film
  • Nappies
  • Crisp packets
  • Polystyrene
  • Tetrapak (juice cartons)
  • Animal waste including dog poo, cat litter and small animal bedding
  • Vacuum cleaner contents
  • Ash

What you can't put in your black bin:

  • Garden Waste
  • Electrical items
  • Any building waste including bricks and rubble
  • Soil and sand
  • Hazardous waste
  • Gas canisters - empty gas bottles should be returned to the original supplier or manufacturer wherever possible (the manufacturer is normally identified on the side of bottle).

Many of the above items can be taken to Lower House Farm Recycling Centre - links to Warwickshire County Council - restriction may apply. The Council also offers a Bulky Waste collection service.

Side waste

The Council has a no side waste policy. Any extra waste placed next to your black bin will not be collected.
