Residents across North Warwickshire came together for numerous events to celebrate VE Day this May.
North Warwickshire Borough Council helped the community to celebrate the 80th anniversary of VE Day by awarding 47 grants to successful applicants, amounting to £8,150 to community groups in the Borough, marking the 80th anniversary of Victory in Europe (VE) Day and Victory over Japan (VJ) Day this year.
Street parties, picnics, tea parties and BBQs were held across the borough throughout the week of 8th May, creating days full of fun, remembrance and celebration.
Leader of the Council, Councillor David Wright, said: "I am thrilled that we received so many applications for our VE and VJ Day Community Grant Scheme and hope our communities enjoyed their events and the opportunity for our residents to come together and commemorate the 80th anniversary of the end of World War II."
