Councillors were advised on the successful progress on North Warwickshire Borough Council’s Community Fund.

Councillors were advised on the successful progress on North Warwickshire Borough Council’s Community Fund with 295 projects supported with a total of £408,686 worth of grants distributed across the Borough through the Community Fund since 2020.

Some of the projects to benefit from the fund include Arley and St. Michael’s Community Centre repairs, Hartshill Parish Christmas lights, defibrillators, Dordon Community Cafe – takeaway meals, Shuttington Community benches and Hurley Community Association Fun Day.

The Local Community Fund was initially established by Councillors in 2020, the Community Fund aims to provide an easily accessible source of financial support for a wide range of projects to make a real and positive difference within communities.

The Local Community Fund is not subject to a formal application process. It is the responsibility of Borough Councillors within each Ward to identify suitable projects within their area that they, collectively, wish to support. The Borough Councillors also determine the level of funding to be allocated to each approved project.

The fund is designed to support small-scale, community-focused initiatives that improve wellbeing, bring people together, and help neighbourhoods thrive. Councillors can allocate their funding to a wide range of projects, such as:

  • One-off events that benefit the local community and support community resilience.
  • Capital items (equipment, materials etc).
  • New projects and activities that need some start-up funding.

A small amount of money can make a huge difference, any interested groups should contact their ward councillor with their project ideas.

Leader of the Council, Councillor David Wright said:

“Community groups are the backbone of our society.  The Local Community Fund provides much needed financial support for a wide range of projects to make a real and positive difference within communities.”
