Two teenagers sat at a colourful market stall showcasing their creations

The North Warwickshire Teenage Markets have become a highly successful initiative and are thriving under a collaboration between North Warwickshire Borough Council and the 3 local Town Partnerships.

These markets are designed to provide young people with a platform to showcase their talents, entrepreneurial spirit, and creativity. By linking-in with established community events organised by the Polesworth, Atherstone, and Coleshill Partnerships, the Teenage Markets have gained significant visibility and audience engagement. This synergy has enabled the markets to benefit from larger footfall and shared promotional efforts.

The markets have consistently drawn large crowds, with high footfall reported at each event. Young traders regularly report how much they enjoy taking part, describing the experience as valuable, educational, and confidence-building.

One of the traders Scarlett (aged 12) described how;

“The teenage markets have helped me show people my passion and hobby and helped to build my confidence by talking to people and answering their questions”

Due to increasing popularity, trader slots are allocated the same day that events are announced, which is a clear indicator of growing demand and community support. These markets support the development of practical business and communication skills in young people, helping to strengthen community ties and increase youth visibility and engagement in civic life.

The Teenage Markets in North Warwickshire are a prime example of successful youth enterprise, made possible by the strong foundations laid by North Warwickshire Borough Council. Their continued success reflects a thriving model of collaboration, empowerment, and community celebration.
