The Council has recently approved the go-ahead for a resident's app.
At the Community and Environment Board meeting on Wednesday, 20th August 2025, members were given an update on the implementation.
The app will enable residents to access a variety of council services on their smartphone or tablet.
Using the app, residents will be able to:
• Complete 'Report It' forms to notify the Council of something such as fly-tipping, a missed bin collection or a dead animal,
• View refuse and recycling collections and sign up to receive weekly reminders of when to present your bin for collection,
• Find the nearest recycling centre, car parks and leisure facilities within the borough,
• View local food hygiene ratings,
• View your local Councillor contact details,
• View Council contact information,
• View Council news stories,
• See the Council’s social media posts.
Other council services will be added to the app in future, such as reviewing planning applications and submitting responses.
Councillor Margaret Bell, Chair of Community & Environment Board, said:
“We’re really excited to be introducing our new council app for residents. From bin collection reminders to checking nearby restaurants, reporting missed bins and fly-tipping, the app makes it easier than ever for residents to stay informed and connected to the Council.
A similar version of the app is already used by many other councils with thousands of residents downloading their local version and using it every week.”
