On Tuesday, 9th September, North Warwickshire Borough Councillors Katie Hobley and David Humphreys selected the winning photos from the Lloyds Tour of Britain Men Photo Competition.

The submissions captured the thrilling energy and atmosphere of the race, which started in Atherstone on Friday, 5th September 2025, racing through the Borough to end at Burton Dassett Hills Country Park.

Securing first place is Gary Smith, who submitted a vibrant photo of the cyclists racing through the street, the motion and energy of the event frozen in time, with excited residents cheering them on in the background. The cyclists’ colourful jerseys and aerodynamic helmets stand out vividly against the backdrop of cars and houses.

Second place was awarded to Joss Winter, who submitted a photo of Geraint Thomas, multiple Olympic and World Champion on the track, and Tour de France winner on the road, passing through the Market Square in Atherstone, getting ready to set off for his last race. In the foreground is Joss’s sister Jennifer, eagerly waiting for the race to begin, wearing stylish bicycle sunglasses.

Third place was awarded to Ollie Jones, who submitted a photo of the cyclists passing an infant school, where you can see the children cheering the cyclists on excitedly. Ollie’s image captures the calm before the race commences, with members of the public anxiously watching and cheering, as the cyclists are packed close together behind the Race Director, ready to set off at full speed.

Councillors Katie Hobley and David Humphreys said:

“It was such a pleasure going through all the fantastic photos people sent in for the Lloyds Tour of Britain Men Photo Competition. The pictures really captured the buzz and community spirit of Stage 4 in North Warwickshire. It wasn’t easy picking just three winners; there were so many great shots, but the winning ones really stood out.”

Leader of the Council, Councillor David Wright, said:

“The Lloyds Tour of Britain Men was a fantastic event for North Warwickshire. The atmosphere on the day was incredible; it was great to see so many people lining the streets, cheering the riders on, and really getting into the spirit of it all. I’m especially pleased that so many residents took part in our photo competition. It’s brilliant to see the community so engaged, capturing the excitement of the race and sharing their own unique perspectives. The results speak for themselves; we've seen some truly amazing photos that show just how special the day was.”
