A worker from a private housing company has been fined £500 after being caught throwing rubbish out of a vehicle window in Dordon recently.
Following a report from a member of the public, Council Enforcement Officers launched an investigation into the incident, which took place after the employee had completed work at a nearby property. Evidence gathered confirmed that waste had been thrown from the passenger side of the vehicle, leading to a £500 Fixed Penalty Notice for littering.
Investigating Officer, Andy Timmins, said:
“There’s simply no excuse for littering. It not only spoils the look of our streets but also costs taxpayers money to clean up. We’re grateful to the public for reporting this incident, their actions help us hold people to account and keep our Borough looking its best.”
Under current regulations, anyone caught littering can face a Fixed Penalty Notice of £500. Those who refuse to pay can be prosecuted in court, where fines can rise to up to £2,500 and result in a criminal record.
The council continues to take a robust approach to littering and fly-tipping, working closely with residents and local businesses to promote a cleaner, greener borough. We’re asking everyone to do their bit, please take your litter home, use the bins provided, and help us keep North Warwickshire a place we can all be proud of.
