A five-year injunction, running until 31st October 2030, has been granted by the High Court in October in relation to the Kirby Glebe Traveller site in Hartshill, Nuneaton.

The Council applied to the Court to address a breach of planning control and to ensure the site remains compliant with its approved planning conditions.

The Court granted the Injunction Order following the presence of several unauthorised caravans on the site without planning permission. The Order was served on the parties on Monday, 3 November 2025. This gives the Council the legal authority to prevent further unauthorised occupation and to ensure the number of caravans on the site does not exceed the level permitted through planning approval.

Councillor Mark Simpson, Chair of Planning and Development Board, said:
“We recognise the importance of providing suitable sites for our Gypsy and Traveller communities, but it’s equally important that planning rules are followed to protect the safety, well-being and fairness of everyone living on and around the site. The Injunction served at Kirby Glebe reinforces the Council’s responsibility to uphold these standards, as housing additional caravans beyond what is permitted would put too much pressure on the site and surrounding area.”
