The Council has received the decision for the Planning Appeal at Junction 10 M42 which was for a 100,000 sq metres of general industry, storage and distribution and light industry development and 150 overnight lorry parking spaces following a 12 day Public Inquiry. This appeal included the appellant, National Highways, Warwickshire County Council, Polesworth Parish Council, Dordon Parish Council, Birchmoor Community Action Team and North Warwickshire Borough Council. There was a huge amount of evidence and effort put forward for the appeal.
The appeal has now been dismissed with the Inspector concluding that “The proposed development would have an adverse impact on the character and appearance of the surrounding area, would fail to maintain an effective Strategic Gap between Tamworth and Polesworth with Dordon, and as a result would have a clear and significant adverse impact on the distinctive character and identity of Polesworth with Dordon”.
The appeal is a significantly important decision placing weight on the adopted North Warwickshire Local Plan which designated the Strategic Gap, added to the recently adopted Dordon Neighbourhood Plan.
