Voter ID evaluation and post election information

Information about voter ID at polling stations and people turned away

There are statutory limits on what data can be shared during polling day and  post-election. The Electoral Commission has produced guidance on what information can be shared, which we will have regard to.

The intention is to publish information in summary format, which is permitted by the rules.

The Returning Officer has now published this information (voter id statistics) XXX

  • The electorate for each Borough Ward
  • The number of postal voters per Ward
  • The provisional turnout for each Ward (which is subject to change following the verification of votes on Friday 5th May)
  • The total number of people turned away from polling stations because they brought no ID or the “wrong” ID to the polling station, per ward
  • The total number of people who were turned away but subsequently returned with correct ID and were able to vote
