ISSUES AND OPTIONS CONSULTATION (REGULATION 18)

The NPPF requires Strategic Policies to look ahead over a minimum 15-year period from adoption, to anticipate and respond to long-term requirements and opportunities, so the Issues and Options consultation also seeks views on the appropriate timescale the new plan should cover.  It continues the theme of sustainable development and seeking the provision of the right infrastructure to address a potential range of housing figures but seeks views on alternative options and approaches to addressing the Boroughs growth needs and the ability and capacity of the Borough’s services and infrastructure to address those needs.  

How can you get involved?

The consultation period will run from Friday 28th November 2025 until Wednesday 21st January 2026.  The consultation documents, including the Evidence Base and online consultation form can be seen below

Important! – Please make sure you go to the last page of the forms to be able to submit the response. 

If you are only making one comment, or responding to one question (or only a few) then you can still progress through the document by ticking the box on each page that states “Do you wish to answer any questions in this section?”

Simply tick the box “No”, then click on “Next” at the bottom of the page and progress through the Form until you get to the last page and press “Submit”

Please note, these forms are long and can be partially or wholly completed prior to submission. If you wish to save the document before submitting it, then it may be easier to download a word version (below) and submit it to planningpolicy@northwarks.gov.uk

SA Scoping Report

A Sustainability Appraisal (SA) Scoping Report (link below) provides the context for and determine the scope of, the SA of the Local Plan Review and to set out the framework for undertaking the later stages of the SA. The purpose of the SA is to promote sustainable development by assessing the extent to which the Local Plan, when judged against reasonable alternatives, will help to achieve relevant environmental, economic, and social objectives.
